Battle of Isandlwana

The Battle of Isandlwana, fought on 22 January 1879, was the second major encounter of the Anglo-Zulu War between the British Empire and the Zulu Kingdom. Eleven days after Britain invaded the Zulu Kingdom, a Zulu force of about 20,000 warriors attacked a portion of the British main column of roughly 1,800 British, colonial and native troops, and inflicted a decisive defeat, killing more than 1,300 of the British and allied force for an estimated 1,000 to 3,000 Zulu dead.
