The War of the Third Coalition (11 April 1805 to 18 July 1806) pitted France and its allies against a coalition of the United Kingdom, the Austrian Empire, the Russian Empire, Naples, Sicily and Sweden. It ended in decisive French victory, capped by Napoleon's triumph at Austerlitz and formalized by the Treaty of Pressburg in December 1805. Historians differ on the war's precise end date, since Austria's exit shattered the coalition in December 1805 but fighting, notably the French invasion of Naples, continued into mid-1806.
